Zahra is changing so fast. I can't believe she is already 7 1/2 months old. Her personality is really coming out too. She is such a happy girl and really enjoys life.
We went full force into finger foods with Zahra. Mealtimes can be a bit stressful for us at times so that's why I decided to just let Zahra have more control and eat what she wants and how she wants. And I must say that it has been so much better!!
Her favorite food hmmm that's a tough one-I would have to say is prunes with bananas and sweet potatoes close behind but she has been really good trying new things herself. I gave her some cheese- which she liked alot and she had a hay day when I make her sweet potatoes fries and let her feed them to herself. Wasn't to sure what to think about tofu- I don't blame her the texture is kinda slimy. Since she has been feeding herself she sucks her fingers way less during mealtime-yay! It was hard for me at first to let her get food all over but she is exploring it and learning a new skill so I have learned to relax and basically wash her hair after every meal :) We also had our first major meltdown during dinner last night. She started banging herself back into her highchair screaming. I was in shock- what was she doing? I tried comforting her trying to figure out what the heck was wrong. It took me about 5 minutes of that before I figured it out- she wanted her sippy cup of water (which she LOVES) and she could see on the counter. On a side note we ask Zahra if she wants to drink some water doing the sign at the same time and she totally know what I am saying because she gets a huge smile on her face. She also knows all done- sometimes she does it too! So anyway about her little meltdown I am definitely going to have to try to deal with that early on here now that I know she is capable of that kind of reaction now and I guess the best thing to do now is just ignore it- not letting her think that she can react that way and get what she wants.
We are still breastfeeding four times a day. Which is going okay- we have to supplement with half a bottle during Z's last feeding just because my supply dropped quite abit when we dropped the 'dream feed'. So why I say its only going 'okay' is because of some recent events that have been taking place: I worked and was gone for 3 evening feedings in a row this last week and when I was finally back home for a feeding she forgot how to breastfeed just during that particular feeding and bit me 5 times! OUCH!! The next 2 evenings went the same way and the 3rd evening she wouldn't breastfeed at all (they call that a nursing strike) but the strange thing is it was only for that feeding. I thought maybe we were going to be done with bf very soon but after her one evening of refusing to bf the next evening she was back to normal and breast fed just fine. Strange.
We had a visitor this past weekend. Our friend, Lisa, from LaCrosse came by to say hi. It was great seeing her and Zahra enjoyed having the company too!
